Now I’m not mandating that you start your day at the predawn hour of 5:00 AM. Although, if any of you are awake you are more then welcome to join me for a morning jog.  What I am suggesting is that you realize breakfast is the most important meal of the day and start your trip to school with a 500 calorie, nutrient dense meal.

Here’s the scoop. When you sleep your body is burning energy, mostly carbohydrates that are stored in the liver, approximately 300-500 calories per night. Lets assume that you want to perform well in school. Your brain needs energy to fuel itself. The main source of “brain fuel” are carbohydrates stored in the liver as glycogen. So without a proper breakfast your brain is literally “running on empty”. So, top of your fuel tank by eating the following breakfast before school.
